On My Furniture Wishlist

Dear Sweetie,
a
I think it's time to buy that full-length mirror we saw at Index...
a
a

...because standing on this step stool in our bathroom IN high heels can be bad for my health.  I can fall down and hit my head on the tub, twist my ankle, my elbow or worse, break the heels of my shoes *gasp!*
a
Love,
a
K
a
a
P.S Here is a current photo of me in my Zara Jeans as promised :)

Things That Make Me Go Oooh!

a
a
...are those big, ker-razy sales like this one by The Mall Group at Bitec (same people behind Paragon and Emporium).  And we're not talking about 30-40% off here.  Think Enzo Anglioni and Nine West shoes at 50-80% off; Karen Millen and Anne Klein dresses at 70% off; Technomarine watches at 50% off;  Pyrex dishes at 60% off.  It's ker-raaaazzeee!!!
a
a
I didn't do any crazy shopping though.  I didn't see anything that I really need.  I was just happy browsing :)

Oh Em Gee

My sister Angel and mom telebabad-ing.  But not to each other.
a
a
My mom is now officially tech/computer/chat savvy.  Here's why:
a
a
I was chatting with my her this morning and before we said goodbye to each other, she said: "and btw, blah, blah, blah"
a
a
Amused, I told her: "Aba, at marunong na rin po kayong gumamit ng btw ha!"
a
She replied: "Oo naman, pati fyi ginagamit ko na. lol."
a
a
Heehee!  Hindi lang fyi, may lol pa.  Pero take note, daig pa ko ng nanay ko because I don't really use chat shortcuts.  I type "hahaha!", "hehe!" or "heehee!" instead of lol; I also rarely use btw.  I'm so manang compared to my mom, but that's ok because she's waaayyyy cooler than me.  Did I mention that she listens to rock music too?  She's the coolest mom ever!
a
a
Mom, you're so cute :)  Just try not to use OMG please.  Exage na kasi yun.  Haha!  I love you!

Richard's Day

Richard's birthday this year fell on the same day as Father's Day so last Sunday's celebration was a double whammy.  What made it even more special was for the first time in the two years that we've been living in Bangkok, we are celebrating his birthday with his family.  My in-laws flew in last week.
a
a
Last Sunday, I prepared a simple Filipino-themed lunch.
a
a
Spaghetti with meat sauce and rice.
a
a
Lumpia and chicken pastel using my mom's recipes.
a
a
Lechon a.k.a moo yang.
a
a
The birthday boy.
a
a
With tita Tess, Mama Lila and Lani.  We're happy that you're all here to celebrate Richard's birthday with us!
a

Richard opening Aly's gift.  It was a small Lexus :)
a
a
No birthday will be complete without a cake!
a
a
You gotta love this!
a
a
Cheers!
a
a
The birthday lunch was a success!  I'm proud to say that I prepared all the dishes myself and I am grateful for my in-laws who made my job a lot easier by helping me with the preps.
a
a
Happy birthday, Sweetie!  We love you!

My Zara Jeans

Wearing my Zara jeans*.  This photo was taken at the LV shop in Emporium back in December 2009.  And no, that bag is not mine.  My mom just asked me to check it because she was planning to get one for my dad.
a
a
*I just realized that I don't really have a lot of photos of myself because I'm usually behind the camera so this is the best one that I can find.
a
a
I'm posting this before I gain all the weight back.  With my in-laws' visit and all the goodies that they brought as pasalubong plus the food from Richard's birthday, it's really hard to resist all the temptation around me so pwera usog.
a
a
First of all, let me explain what's so special about my Zara jeans.  It's one of those rare moments when I'm able to find something in Zara that actually fits me AND it was on sale.  It never happened to me again.  That's why this pair is so precious to me.
a
a
Two months ago, I couldn't fit into my Zara jeans.  As in, I can't put the two ends together.  A month ago, I was able to button them, but all my belly fat was spilling over resulting in a muffin top from hell that was very obvious even under a loose shirt.  Kadiri.
a
a
Yesterday, I decided to give my Zara jeans another go.  And guess what??  Kasya na sya ulit.  Wheee!!!  I was able to button them with no ugly muffin top :)  HOORAY!!
a
a
Thank you, Lord!
a
a
P.S I know I should post a photo as proof, but I was too pooped yesterday from Richard's birthday preps.  I will take a photo one of these days :)

Good News and Bad News

I'm an optimist so good news first.
a
The apartment move was a success!  We are also able to put the new apartment in order just in time for my in-laws' visit so our place looks pretty decent and habitable.
a
Furniture shopping is also 80% done and the items will be delivered in a couple of days.  I hate waiting, but I'm really happy with what we got so what they hey!  I have two more items on my wishlist though, but those are not so important so they can wait.
a
And the best news: According to the weighing scale in Central Rama3, I lost more weight!  Yay!!  Our bathroom scale is not so reliable so I use the one in the mall.  And based on my weight one or two weeks ago, I lost two more kilos.  Hooray!!!  That brings us to a grand total of four kilos since I started my diet.  Thank you, Lord!  I still have a long way to go, but I'm happy to know that all my suffering sacrifices are getting positive results.  Yipee!!
a
a
Now for the bad news...
a
I've been so busy with the moving, decorating and preparations for the coming weeks that I completely forgot to check Aly's school calendar.  Turns out, they still have classes to make up for the days when the school was closed due to the Red Shirt protests.  I only found out this morning when I saw my Spanish neighbor at the pool deck.  Haaayyy!!!  So Aly missed two days of school and thankfully she didn't really miss any major lessons because they had their final exams last week already.  I'm just glad she won't miss their year end party which will be tomorrow.  It's kinda disappointing how I completely overlook this tiny detail.  I guess supermoms have their off days too.
a
And oh yeah, I also found out that I have the worst neighbor everrr!!
a
a
Oh well...the past week was tiring as hell.  I'm just glad I'm still in one piece. When this is all over, a trip to the spa is in order!

We're Moving To A New Apartment

Our first family photo in our apartment.
a
a
The Valdezes in Bangkok will be moving to another apartment soon!   Here's why: the new owner is having our building feng shui-ed.  It all started with interior renovations: first, he had all seven towers repainted from maroon and beige to green (his lucky color, apparently) and white.  Then, the lobby will also have a major facelift.  Lastly, the first three towers will undergo major renovations in the next six months so all the residents have to move to the remaining towers.
a
a
So our move is not going to be a major move because we're merely transferring to another tower but the view there is alot better -- we're getting a city view this time!  And we're very excited about this because the last time we checked the unit, we saw the most fantastic sunset that we've ever seen here in Bangkok.   That's a big change from our usual pool view, which is not so bad but the city view is sooo much better!
a
a
It was, however, a long and tedious process before we finally got the apartment that we really wanted.  It took us a couple of months and a seemingly endless number of apartment checks before we got The One.  So many issues that we had to deal with: the unit was great but floor was too low (higher floors only please); the floor was perfect, but it had burn marks on the carpet; the unit was ok, the floor was ok, but it had a pool view (city view  is a non-negotiable!); the floor was ok, it had a city view but it had a terrible stain on the bathroom floor...things like that.  Our choices were eventually narrowed down to two options: a two-bedroom unit with a storage closet and a city view on the 9th floor (pretty much like the one we have now) or a three-bedroom unit with no storage closet but with a better city view on the 13th floor   Richard and I are not superstitious so 13th floor is not an issue.  The real issue is: storage closet or city view?  We chose the city view of course, but more about that when we get there :)
a
a
Anyway, so we're moving real soon.  Very soon, in fact, as I am already packing our stuff as we speak.  Why I decided to schedule our move on the same week as Aly's final exams and on the very same week that I decided to go on a low-calorie diet is beyond me.  I am wondering about that myself.  You see, I am eating very little at present which means I have very low energy.  I am also avoiding chocolates and sweets which makes me very masungit quite irritable.  I guess it's also good that we move asap before my inlaws arrive next Tuesday because I don't want to hassle our guests with fixing and packing stuff during their vacay.
a
a
I have to say, packing is not as easy as I thought it would be.  Last night, I only packed our books (which easily filled up two big boxes) and it gave me quite a workout.  I haven't even gone to the kitchen, the closet and the bedrooms yet.  Hooboy!  Good luck with that!  But moving is a good thing because #1 I get to clean out our cupboards and I can edit our junk stuff; #2 It gave us an excuse to buy new furniture (e.g shoe cabinets, a bookcase and other storage stuff) and #3 I can redecorate.  Exciting days ahead!  I will tell you more about our new home when we get there.

My Short Affair with Ebay

Ok, so I think I went a little crazy on ebay but I can justify that: #1 all the malls were closed during the red shirt protest and there was nowhere left to go so I turned to online shopping for my shopping fix.  #2 I set a certain limit and I'm proud to say that I stayed within the budget so even if I went "bidding-happy", I didn't go overboard naman.  No severe damage was done to my credit card.  Heehee!
a
a
One of my winning bids on ebay.
a
a
The winning part is very exciting.  The only downside is you have to wait for your package to arrive.  So after waiting for several weeks, I finally got this:
a
a
You can just imagine how happy I was when I found this message under our door.  Heehee!
a
a
So I called the bell desk and they sent this to our room:
a
a
Wheeee!!!
a
a
The very first item that I won through bidding on ebay:
a
a
The one and only Shu Uemura eyelash curler that many make-up artists and celebrities rave about.
a
a
I have to say, it's waaaayy better than the curlash that I got from PCX Rockwell many years ago.  I'm so glad I finally got this upgrade.
a
a
The other items that I got are House of Harlow accessories :)  But the hubby is not so thrilled with me buying online because he prefers that I see the item for myself so I can check for any defects or what-have-yous.  Pffft!  Buti na lang the malls have reopened.
a
a
And that, my friends, is my short affair with ebay.
