Aly's goodies. I bought them from Chinatown and carried them all by myself! They must have weighed 20 kilos or so. I don't normally carry heavy stuff so it was truly a mommy moment for me. Hay...the things mommies will do for their kids!

Choosing the loot bag contents was easy. I completed it in less than two hours. But finding the perfect loot bag? That was a different story. It took me two trips to Chinatown in two days. Why was it such a challenge? #1 they had very limited paper bag suppliers there. Kung plastic bag, sobrang dami but paper bags are very rare. #2 if you do find a supplier, you have to buy a minimum of 100 pcs, but I only need 24! Aly's class has only 21 kids, but I'm preparing 24 sets so I'll have extra just in case.

On my second day, I was finally able to find a paper bag who sells for a minimum of 50 pcs. My friend Jenn said that I can just save the extra bags and use them for Christmas or Halloween. Thanks for the tip, Jenn! :)

So was my problem solved? Not exactly...the color that I wanted (pink) was too big and I don't want Aly's loot bags to look half empty. Then, the ones that I would have settled for (red and natural color), were too small naman! So the only one that was exactly the same size as the sample that I brought was this...

...black. Not very children's party-ish, huh? But then I remembered the Minnie Mouse headband that I bought for Aly and I had an idea!

I decided to put white polka dots and a red ribbon to make them look a bit more festive. I used white sticker labels. Too bad they didn't have red.

Father and daughter at work. Can you see Aly's headband? That was my inspiration for the loot bag design.

Aly's birthday preps was a family activity.

Aly was very hands-on with the preparations. She was the one who filled up all the bags! All 24 of them!

Here's the loot bag with the red ribbon.

The contents of the loot bag are: friendship book (it's a hardbound notebook similar to a slumbook), pencil case with pencils and eraser, stamp set, stickers, noisemaker and some of Aly's favorite goodies.
a

It also has a note. It reads: Hi there! Thank you for joining me on my birthday ! :) I hope you like the friendship book that I prepared with the help of my mommy and daddy. Fill it up with photos of your favorite friends, and have fun decorating with stickers and stamps! Write or draw anything and everything with the pencil and eraser kit. All these are included in your loot bag, together with some of my favorite goodies. :) To give you a head start, I hope you don't mind if I filled up the first page! Enjoy! Love, Aly.

Aly filled up the first pages of the friendship books herself! Yes, all 24 of them!

Hands-on talaga!
a
aWe also printed some of her photos and placed them on the books. We also plan to decorate the pages with more stickers.

Our little girl has really gone a long way! Just the other day, she was asking her daddy for a pink ipod! A pink ipod!?! I tell you, I was shocked! Richard was surprised as well because all he managed to say was "we'll see, ok?". But later on, her dad and I just laughed about it.

Hay, she's growing up fast and I don't know if I should be happy or sad about it, but one thing's for sure: I'm very proud of my daughter :) I love you, Aly!

I am so excited for Ally and so happy for the mommy. Mommy finally gets to Chinatown (I am assuming by yourself) and carries at least 20 kilos all by herself. I wonder if the mom commuted all the way to Chinatown via boat, cab or the driver took her there? Hmmmm.
Excuse me, I took the boat going there! Haha! O, dba? But I had to take a cab going back kasi hindi na kaya ng powers ko maglakad ng malayo at umakyat sa train station. No driver, just me :)
