Another Visitor from the Philippines

Apart from Halloween preps, we were also busy entertaining one of Richard's colleagues from Toyota Philippines, Alvin, who was in Bangkok for a business trip. He arrived on Sunday afternoon so from Platinum Mall, we picked him up from his hotel and took him to MBK for pasalubong shopping and dinner.

Then we had dinner at home on Wednesday.

I prepared...

Baked Ribs with barbecue sauce...
a
a
...baked penne with three kinds of cheese -- mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan.

And for dessert, I prepared white chocolate cheesecake...

...and carrot cake.

I didn't do all of this in one day. I made the dessert a day before and the ribs were marinated two days before Wednesday. So I was practically slaving in the kitchen for three days. But you know what the best part is? Alvin loved the food that I prepared! Naubos nya yung ribs. As in! Sabi ko nga kay Richard, ganyan ang gusto kong bisita! If all our guests were like him, then I wouldn't mind working hard in the kitchen because Alvin showed that he really liked my cooking!

To Alvin, we hope you enjoyed your stay in Bangkok! See you in the Philippines!

Platinum Fashion Mall

On their second day in Bangkok, I took the nyoras to my favorite mall in Pratunam, Platinum Fashion Mall. I love this mall for the following reasons:
  • They have lots of funky, fasyon items - I searched the other malls (Central, Paragon, Siam Center) for stuff that I see on Hollywood celebs, but I only saw them in Platinum;

  • Super cheap prices - Where else can you buy a good blouse for THB100? Earrings for THB10? And a pair of shoes for THB250?; and

  • Yummy food court on the fifth floor - I love the mango with sticky rice (best I've tasted in Bangkok so far), spring rolls and fried chicken. You can get a decent meal here for only THB40.

We arrived in Platinum at around 1pm so I insisted that we eat lunch first before we do any shopping. Since the food court is on the topmost floor, we had to pass by numerous stalls. The nyoras couldn't contain their excitement! I mean, who wouldn't, with all those sale signs scattered around?

So with much hesitation, we finally made it to the fifth floor. They were shocked when they saw the cheap food prices! I saw Lette, Brenda and Kat lining up at KFC, but I was able to convince them to try the local fried chicken. Buti na lang nagustuhan nila, or else mapapahiya ako. Hehe!

Aly with her favorite soup and fried chicken.

Tita K tried the fried chicken too.

And so did Tita L. She also tried some local coconut dessert.

After a long day of shopping...

...picture pa rin.

Tired, but happy with their purchases.

Panisinin nyo naman ang anak ko -- ang galing mag-pose ni Aly, no?

Of course, I also bought something for myself...

...a pair of white gladiator sandals. Charles & Keith ran out of the metallic pair that I've been lusting for (I was waiting for it to go on sale, but the stocks never made it. Hay...should've bought it right away), so I settled for this one.

Matching umbrellas for me and Aly.

The girls loved Platinum so much, that we went back there the next day after our trip to the Grand Palace, but this time with Dionne and Love.

I love sharing great shopping discoveries like this with my friends. I'm happy too that they liked the fried chicken that I recommended.
