Bangkok's Airports are Closed

I'm sure you've heard about this on the news. I've been really busy in the past weeks (more about that in the coming posts), but I figured that it's about time that I blogged about this.
a
a
Two of Bangkok's airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang, are closed leaving thousands of tourists stranded -- including my houseguests. My parents and my titas were supposed to fly back to Manila on Thursday, but since all flights have been cancelled, they still have no idea as to when they will be flying back home. Hopefully the situation will be resolved by Saturday because my titas have catering jobs waiting for them when they go home. Luckily for my dad, he has nothing to worry about because my two brothers are left in charge and according to them, things are running smoothly. (Forgive me, allow the ate to brag. I'm just super duper proud of my siblings. Hugs to all of you!).
a
a
Now, where was I? Ok, back to current events. Another reason why I'm writing this post is to inform all our relatives and friends back home -- especially my lolo, titos, titas and cousins -- that WE ARE ALL SAFE HERE. PLEASE DO NOT WORRY! Because our apartment is far from the two airports. We are at least 40 minutes away. Kung dyan sa atin, kasing layo yan ng Taguig at QC. Contrary to what you might have heard or seen on the news, hindi namin nararamdaman ang gulo dito. Napapanood lang namin sa news ang mga pangyayari. Kung hindi namin nakikita sa tv, hindi namin malalaman na may gulo na palang nangyayari dito.
a
a
We are praying that the airport will be cleared soon para makauwi na sila kasi miss na miss na nila kayo jan! In the meantime, you may get in touch with them thru ym, emails, text messages or phone calls. Kung may mga last-minute bilin kayo, contact them now. Hehe!
a
a
We'll keep you posted!

Disney Live! at Paragon

We told you about the tickets last week, now we'll share with you our Disney Live! experience. Para kaming artista kasi may kasama kaming paparazzi. Hehe! Proud and excited daddy Richard documented the entire event with his camera.
a
a
Aly insisted on wearing her Cinderella costume (complete with tiara!) for the show.
a
a
A paparazzi shot as we were leaving Oakwood.
a
a
Can't wait to see the show!
a
a
Talagang literally every step was documented! This was taken as we were going up from the parking lot.
a
a
On the elevator en route to the 5th floor.
a
a
We made it to Royal Paragon just as they were announcing the start of the show. Kahit nagmamadali na, picture pa rin!
a
a
Can you see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Snow White on the stage?
This shot (plus the following stage shots) was taken with Richard's phone. Hindi daw pwede ang camera sa loob so we left ours at the deposit area outside. But we saw many people still with digicams inside. Grrr...
a
a
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

The stage during intermission.

Krisan and Cinderella.

Richard and Cinderella.
a
a
The finale.
All the characters -- Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Snow White, Cinderella and Belle plus their respective princes went onstage for the last number.
a
a
After the show, we checked out the booths outside the theater. And ofcourse to take more pictures. Here's the princess and her castle.
a
a
Free picture if you buy snacks worth THB70. Not bad.
a
a
While waiting for our photo to be printed, we bumped into some Filipino friends whom we met at a BBQ party. Here's Aly with cute Sydney.

a
Aly the owl.
a
a
Still waiting for our photo.
a
a
My verdict: How can you go wrong with Disney? It was a great show for kids and adults alike. I felt like a kid again because I found myself singing to familiar Disney tunes. I tried to coax my daughter to sing but she's KJ because she doesn't want to. Hehe!
a
a
The show lasted for an hour and a half, and it featured three fairy tales -- Snow White, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast. I know the story by heart, but it was still nice to see the characters come to life.
a
a
Disney Live! was a wonderful experience not just for Alyannah, but Richard and me as well.
a
a
Oh yeah, we also got to try out the "golden popcorn". Why golden popcorn? Overpriced kasi.

THB100 for this box.

Our Christmas Tree

With our Halloween decor down and stored at the back of our closet, it's time to put up the teeny tiny Christmas tree that I bought at the Bangkok International Gift and Household Fair (BIG + BIH) at Impact.
a
a
Our magenta disco Christmas tree.a
a
Aly helped me decorate our tree :)
a
a
I decorated it with silver balls, mirror balls (kaya disco), and strands of pearly white necklaces that I found at Platinum Mall.
a
a
Ahluvit!
a
a
Can you see the tree? Haha!
a
a
Is it too early to put up a Christmas tree? I really wanted to have it up by November para masulit because we will only be spending two weeks of December here in Bangkok -- the rest will be in Manila.
a
a
I actually caught the Christmas fever much earlier because I started working on our Christmas gift list as early as the second week of October! And I've been doing my Christmas shopping bit by bit since then. Anyway, more about that on a separate post.
a
a
What about you? Are you geared-up for the holidays?

Oakwood Halloween Party

Alyannah and I signed up for the Halloween party and Trick or Treat at the pool deck of Oakwood. This was her costume...
a
a

Meet Cinderella!
a
a
Can't wait to go trick or treating!
a
a
One last check at the lootbags and decor before we go down to the 4th floor!
a
a
Aly and the rest of the Vampires team (l-r) Nisa, Zaim and Federico.
a
a
Aly with her classmates.
a
a
Lady Vampire.
a
a
I'm excited for trick or treat, mommy!
a
a
Here are some of the homes that we went to...
a
a
Team Vampires.
The last stop was at our apartment. After trick or treat, we went back to the 4th floor for party games and snacks.
a
a
Look at what I got, mommy!
Pawis na si Cinderella pero happy with her lootbags.
a
a
Happy little critters.
a
a
Tired and thirsty little critters. Hehe!
a
a
The kids (and parents!) snacked on sandwiches, hotdogs, mini pizzas and fish fingers while waiting for the other teams to arrive. Once all the teams have settled in, they played one game.
a
a
The game: mummy wrap race...
a
a
...which Aly enjoyed very much.
a
a
The mummy wrap race was a fun game, but when you put a hundred kids in a room full of tissue paper, this is what happens...
a
a
Para syang dinaanan ng bagyo.
a
a
They capped the party off with a movie -- Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein, but the kids lost interest barely halfway through the movie.
a
a
That was the first time I ever attended a party here in Oakwood. It was chaotic, but it was also fun. Aly enjoyed it and she was happy with all the goodies that she got (though I doubt if she will eat all those candies) and that's all that matters.
