Steak Sandwich

I love preparing Richard's sandwich baon, but lately I've been having a hard time waking up at six in the morning so I prepare it in the evenings.

This is one of my favorite sandwich creations.
a
a
The Man Sandwich...
a
a
...thin slices of rib eye steak, mayo, lettuce and cherry tomatoes on wholewheat bread.
a
a
Steak sandwich to-go.

To prepare: first, you season the rib eye steak slices with salt and pepper then pan-fry in olive oil and lots of chopped garlic. Once the steak is done, add a dash of Lea + Perrins. Toast the bread, spread some mayo and stack the beef, lettuce, tomato and enjoy!

a
Oh, and don't forget to add love. That's the magic ingredient :)

Alyannah's Visit To The Dentist

Here's another one of those no-digicam-moments (gosh, what is wrong with me?!). This should have been posted two weeks ago, but I keep forgetting to download from Richard's phone.

Anyway, we finally took Yan to the dentist to have her front tooth (or what's left of it) removed.
a
a
Walang takot.
a
Walang aray.
a
Wala ng ngipin...pero may balloon naman!
a
Highs: Alyannah did not feel a thing so she did not cry. The dentist really knew how to deal with kids. And the best part is, Yan got a balloon after her tooth extraction! Oh, and we also found out that some of her permanent teeth are starting to come out.
a
Lows: There's only one -- ang mahal magpabunot ng ngipin! They have separate rates for kids and adults. Yan's tooth extraction cost THB1,200. To think, kapirasong ngipin lang yung tinanggal kasi nga sira na. Oh well...

Alyannah Learns How To Use Chopsticks

Last Sunday, we had lunch at our favorite Japanese restaurant, Fuji. Halfway through her tempura, Yan put her spoon and fork down and told her daddy that she wants to try to use chopsticks...
a
a

a
a
...her first attempt was a success! Whoopee!
a
Take note: we never taught her how to use chopsticks prior to this. She probably just observed me and her dad. Kaya pati kami ni Richard nagulat when we saw this. Galing no?
a
You will never really know when these priceless moments will come up. Timing pa that this happened when I didn't bring any camera -- I know, it's a shame that we have two digicams at home and I wasn't even able to bring one! So we took these photos using Richard's N70. Note to self: charge the Sony camera and keep in bag at all times!

Mommy's Leche Flan

Last week, I had a sudden craving for sweets so I decided to try out my mommy's leche flan recipe. Since I didn't have any lanera at home, my next option would be to use ramekins, but I didn't have them either so I dug up our old glasses in our storeroom.
a
a
a
a
When you're using a lanera, you can caramelize the sugar by putting the pan directly on top of the stove, but since I'm using a glass, I made the syrup separately and poured it on top of the cooked leche flan. I only used five eggs for this batch and I was able to make four of these but one of the glasses cracked -- probably due to the heat.
a
It wasn't as good as my mom's leche flan, pero pwede na rin! For my next attempt, I'll be better equipped and hopefully, the result will be better :)

Si Richard at Ang Pasalubong

The boss is baaack! At may dala syang isang maletang puno ng pasalubong. Yipee!!
a
a
a
a
Big thanks with hugs and kisses go out to:
a
a
My sister-in-law Lani for Alyannah's Hi-5 DVD's -- at least now she has something else new to watch. Nagsawa na kasi sya with the old ones.
a
My kumareng Dy for the DVD's -- Richard and I can have movie date nights at home when Yan's asleep. Thanks, girl! Also to my dear brother Jof for the software that he sent. *kiss*
a
My bestfriend Ria for the YES magazines. Ri, Richard is super dyahe that he wasn't able to meet you guys at the hotel. He read your text message the next day na kasi he was really pooped. We'll make bawi na lang next time!
a
And last, but definitely not the least, my dear mommy and daddy for the rest of the items that you see here. Grabe, parang pasko! Woohoo!
a
Thanks to my brother, Mick, for accompanying Richard at Shopwise and for giving him tips on the right brand of all-purpose cream to buy. I'm surprised that you know pala the stuff that I use for cooking. Akala ko kasi kain lang gusto mo. Haha! I love you!
a
Gosh, I feel so spoiled and so loved! Thank you so much for all the goodies that you sent! I really appreciate them :)
a
But more than the pasalubong, I am soo happy that my husband's back. He arrived around 12 midnight and we stayed up until 230am chatting and making kwento about what happened to him during his trip.
a
Hay, I really miss everyone back home! Sana next time makasama na kami ni Yan.

Crazy Sale at Central Chidlom

This post was supposed to be about me going through the entire week without shopping. I tried. I really did. In fact, I almost made it; I didn't leave the apartment for three days. Oh well...so much for the effort.
a
Anyway, I'm sooo glad I snapped out of it. Otherwise, I'd miss the crazy sale at Central Chidlom (sale ends on Sunday). Imagine, 50-90% off?!! Gosh, I don't think I will be able to forgive myself if I missed it! Here are my favorite buys:

Pink My Melody rain boots for Alyannah. Medyo malaki yung size, but I still bought them because she loves boots and I know I would really regret it if I didn't buy them. Why? See next photo.

Original price: THB1,195. Sale price: THB199. That's why.
a
a
Olive and blue table napkins to match the placemats that I bought last month. Original price: THB75. Sale price: THB19. Unbelievable, right? I bought a dozen pieces of each color.
a
a
My favorite -- charger plates. Original price: THB250. Sale price: THB29. They only had one design, though. Pero pwede na rin!
a
a
Here's a closer look at the paisley design.
a
a
Parang medyo boring with the white plate so I'm planning to check out the weekend market for some nice colored ones.
a
a
I also bought a Tefal skillet and wok at 50% off, and shirts for Yan for THB99.
a
Crazy sales like this happen only once in a blue moon that's why you should really take advantage. I wish my mom was with me yesterday. I'm sure mababaliw din sya. Hay...
a
Can't wait for the next sale!

Ang Pagbabalik

Isang tulog na lang nandito na ulit si Richard!

So ano ba ang ginawa ko this week aside from the usual household chores like laba, luto and plantsa?

For starters, I blogged, then I blogged, and I blogged again. Obvious ba from the number of entries that I posted starting Monday? I like blogging because it keeps my mind off things. It's my outlet.
a
I also discovered a lot of new blogsites (which I love sharing with my online buddy, Fides) thru Our Awesome Planet. My favorite so far is Francis M's multiply site, A Free Mind, where he posts some of his amazing photos. Hindi ko alam na he's into photography pala at ang galing nya! Na-inspire tuloy ako. Which leads us to the next item...
a
I tried reading my camera's manual so I can play around with the different functions. I have yet to finish the entire manual.
a
Akala ko I can make it through the entire week without going to the mall, but after being locked up inside the house for three days, I decided to go out today and do some shopping. Truth be told, I'm so inggit at my husband for being able to have dinner with our friends back in Manila -- even with my mom and dad! So I said to myself, it's no use sulking at home; Yan and I should also go out and have fun. So I called up the driver and asked him to pick us up today and bring us to Central Chidlom. Ang ganda naman talaga ng timing namin because they were having a crazy sale -- 50-90% off on selected items! Ang saya saya!
a
But more on that tomorrow. Right now I have to go to bed.
